Must read before sending flowers
Ladies and gentlemen, we know that offering flowers is embedded in our daily practice, from special events to expressing specific emotions. But before offering a bouquet of flowers, familiarize yourself with these few rules of decorum!
- At a social dinner, you should not arrive with flowers, contrarily to what is often thought and practiced! Indeed, this would force the host to run for a vase when other reception tasks require their attention. The bouquet of flowers should be sent before the reception or the next day...
- Always offer an odd number of flowers. This rule is valid especially for roses and for small bouquets of less than 12 flowers. When you offer more than a dozen roses/flowers, the number can be even. This is not superstition but aesthetics! Imagine offering a rose or three roses, it looks pretty! But not two or four... for some reason it's not aesthetically appealing!
- When you are unfamiliar with the language of flowers, choose pale shades. One rule to remember; when in doubt, always opt for light, pastel, and sober colors.
- Capital rule of good manners: never offer red roses to just any girl. It is the color and the flower of passion! A man can offer these flowers to his fiancée because it means the relationship is getting serious! A bouquet of red roses is an excellent Valentine's Day gift for lovers...
- There are two types of flowers that should never be offered; the white carnations known to bring bad luck, and the other one on the blacklist of flowers is the chrysanthemums associated with death. Never offer those two!
One thing is certain: the language of flowers is very rich and allows you to express a thousand and one emotions. Offer a distinctive feel for those receiving them!
